Ingredients:
- 200 ml water
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (128 gr)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 50 gr unsalted butter
- sugar and ground cinnamon (for coating)
- oil (for frying)
Directions:
1. Combine water and butter in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
2. Cook and stirring until butter melts, then remove from heat.
3. On a medium bowl, combine the dry ingredients (flour, sugar and salt)
4. Pour the butter and water mixture to the dry ingredients.
5. Stir until well combined and mixture forms a ball.
6. Spoon dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
7. Place in the fridge to rest for a few minutes.
8. Fill a large saucepan one-third full of oil. Heat to 180°C over medium heat
9. Pipe the dough over the pot of oil, then using scissors or a sharp knife, cut it so it releases into the oil.
10. Deep-fry until they're golden brown & crisp and cooked through. then remove and drain any excess oil. repeat with the remaining dough.
11. Roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
12. Meanwhile, break the chocolate into small pieces and heat your heavy cream in a microwave.
13. remove from the microwave, and pour the heavy cream over the chopped chocolate.
13. Let it sit for about 2 minute then stir to combine.
(you can add a bit of orange zest if you want to)
Serve your churros with the warm chocolate sauce for dipping.
